Hearth & Penny sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics scripts.

The Sunday Letter. When you sign up, your browser sends your email address straight to our email provider, f5send, which sends the confirmation email and the letter. This site doesn't keep your address. You can unsubscribe from any issue.

Product images. Pictures of equipment on recipe pages load from Amazon's image servers, so Amazon receives a normal web request (including your IP address) when they appear. Clicking a product link takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's privacy notice applies.

Your settings. If you switch a recipe to metric, your browser remembers that choice on your own device. It isn't sent to us.

Accounts

If you make an account, we store your email address, the name you choose for comments (if any), the recipes you save, your ratings and your comments, and a sign-in session with your browser's IP address and user agent. We use them only to run your account. Sign-in links are sent by f5send. A Cloudflare Turnstile check on the sign-in form helps keep out bots; Cloudflare processes that check.

When you ask for a sign-in link, your email address and the link go to f5send, which delivers the email. The link is stored only as a hash and expires after 15 minutes.

From your account page you can download your profile, sign-in sessions (with their IP address and browser), saved recipes, ratings and comments, or delete your account. Deleting removes all of that, and any sign-in link still waiting for your address, at once. Sign-in rate-limit counters, which hold a hash of your address or your IP address, expire within a day. Accounts are for people 13 and older.

We set one cookie when you sign in, to keep you signed in. It isn't used for tracking or advertising.
